High drama ensued in front of the Naveen Niwas, the residence of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday when a woman climbed atop a tree to jump down in a bid to end her life.

The woman stated to be a resident of Bhadrak was rescued by a joint team of police stationed at the Naveen Niwas and fire personnel. She was later taken to Airfield police station for enquiry.

Speaking to media during the incident, the woman alleged that her brother was murdered 23 years ago but till now she has been unable to get justice.

I have been running from pillar to post and struggling to get justice for my brother who was murdered. Instead I have been slapped with fake charges by the police, the woman alleged.

"When I was studying in Class 9, my brother was murdered for protesting and I was an witness to the case. My fellow villagers and local residents forced my marriage to a goon. I have lodged many complaints ate all levels including the Chief Minister's Office but all my pleas have not been heeded," she said.

Fed up with her pathetic situation, the woman said, she had no other option than to take the extreme step to end her life.

However, the police have not issued any statement over the development.
