A day after giving a miss to the marriage date, BJD’s Tirtol MLA Bijaya Shankar Das has landed in deeper trouble after his wife-to-be lodged an FIR against him at Jagatsinghpur police station.

The complainant, Somalika, has accused the MLA of cheating and harassment. Somalika has also alleged that she and her family are being threatened by MLA’s relatives.

On Friday, Somalika and her family members were left waiting at the Registrar of Marriage office at Jagatsinghpur for several hours.

However, the MLA didn’t turn up at the venue. It is pertinent to mention here that both the Tirtol MLA Bijay and Somalika had applied for marriage at the Registrar of Marriage office in Jagatsingpur on May 17.

After waiting for the MLA at the sub-registrar office for three hours, Somalika alleged that, “Tirtol MLA had assured to marry as per the scheduled date. But unfortunately, his brother and others in family are threatening me.”

The complainant further said, “The Tirtol MLA has not kept his promise and he is not responding to her phone calls.”
