Days after the students of a government-run school in Ganjam district were seen dancing to the tunes of Pushpa song in the smart classroom, the headmistress of the school was placed under suspension by the District Education Officer (DEO).

Sheragada Block Education Officer (BEO) on Friday confirmed that Sujata Kumari Padhi, headmistress of upgraded high school at Baramundali has been suspended pending inquiry into this matter.

BEO, Bhaskar Lenka told OTV, “The incident occurred on the day of Class 10 farewell party held in the school with the presence of teachers. However, some students sneaked out of the party and connected the classroom TV with their mobile phones and played the song.”

“After the videos of the students dancing went viral on social media, the district Collector took cognizance and instructed the DEO to conduct an inquiry,” Lenka said.

“The mischievous students acted on their own and there is no involvement of any teachers in this matter,” he added.

During the suspension, Padhi will report to the BEO at the district headquarters.

The viral video showed students in school uniforms dancing their hearts out to the hit song from the movie Pushpa playing on television in the classroom.

No teachers could be seen in the classroom and taking advantage of which the students were seen enjoying their time with the television installed in the classroom for imparting smart education to them.

They played the hit number Shrivalli from movie Pushpa on TV while dancing to its tunes in the classroom.
