Dejected over his defeat in the recently concluded Panchayat polls, a Sarpanch candidate allegedly dug up a road in Odisha's Gajapati district on Wednesday.

The alleged act of the heart-broken politician resulted in five villages in the area getting disconnected from the rest of the world.

The incident was reported from Gangabada Panchayat in Rayagada Block of Gajapati district.

As per reports, after being defeated by former Sarpanch Haribandhu Karji, the supporters of Barik Sabara dug up the road and put heavy stones, thereby blocking traffic.

“The defeated candidate has cut off the road connecting Bada Pachidia, Tala Sahi, Sagadia , Loba and Kantakhamba,” Karji, the Sarpanch-elect said.

Due to the incident, normal life of residents was severely affected in the area.

Later, the elected Sarpanch along with some locals filed a complaint against Sabara with the police which has begun an investigation.
