The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday shot off a letter to vice-chancellors of Universities and directors of several institutions to make special provision for examinations for the cadets enrolled in the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

In the letter, UGC has stated that the National Cadet Corps (NCC) activities involve multiplicity of responsibilities in the Central Government, the Education Department and the State Governments and the NCC.

The volunteers of NCC are actively involved in various nation building activities. Every year, the cadets are involved in preparation/training camps for the Republic Day Camp during the months of November and December.

It has been brought to the notice of UGC that the NCC cadets/volunteers are facing problems for selfless services they render, by virtue of which they miss their semester classes.

“Looking into this, special examination should be conducted on separate dates for NCC cadets and not as candidates appearing for re-test,” the UGC letter read.

The UGC has also asked all higher educational institutions to take appropriate action for holding separate examination for NCC Cadets so that they may not face problems for missing their semester exams.
