The trailer of the much awaited documentary film ‘Nanda Master nka Chatasali’ was launched at Idcol Auditorium in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The 70-minute documentary is based on the life of the centenarian, Padmashri Nanda Kishore Prusty, the oldest teacher of the contemporary Odisha who had created a free learning space for local kids since 1946 and did not stop till his death on December7, 2021.  The film portrays him as an ambassador of change and a saviour of our culture. He selflessly provided free education for 70 years to three generations of children of his village.

Nanda was a ‘chatasali’ teacher from a remote village named Kantira, under Sukinda block in Jajpur district. He shot to fame after receiving Padmashri from the President of India.

Along with the décor of the film’s posters and banners with graceful energy of Nanda Prusty, the trailer was showcased on a big screen in front of the packed audience. Simultaneously, the official trailer of the film was launched on OdiaOne, a YouTube channel, in the presence ex- MLA Akash Das Nayak, actress Naina Das, Samaresh Routray, Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, Retd Inspector General Director in Indo-Tibetan Boarder Police, among others.  The event was hosted by popular cinema host Guddi.

Produced by Abhay Pati and directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker and photographer Pranab Kumar Aich, the team has plans to send the movie to international film festivals worldwide and approach OTT platforms like Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon Prime and Voot with an aim to spread the cause for which Nanda sir lived all his life.

Naina Das who has donned the hat of an associate producer, said “Nanda Sir’s ideology is so simple yet inspirational. He led a simple life with only one desire of educating people around him for free. This is the most noble and selfless thing to be done. This touched our heart and led us to produce such a film that can be both a tribute towards Nanda Sir and an inspiration for the society.”
