A school principal has been barred from entering school premises after he beat up a Class VI student black and blue with the help of an iron pipe in an inebriated condition.

The accused has been identified as Nityananda Barik, Principal of Sundarapal Adarsha School under Hatadihi block in Keonjhar district.
After the matter came to the fore, tension flared up at the locality as parents approached the sub-collector Anil Kumar Sethy demanding action against the tipsy Principal.

Expressing concern over the matter, Sethy rushed to the school and discussed the issue with the victim student and other students.

The accused Principal also admitted to his fault following which the sub-collector banned the former from entering school.

Parent of a student said, “We are demanding strict action against the teacher. He should be banned from entering school premises permanently as our kids are not safe with him. He always threatens to beat them up and cut their marks in examinations. They are literally scared.”

Sub-collector Anil Kumar Sethy said, “I had got a call from parents in this regard. Even I had received another complaint against him four-five days back that he had mercilessly beaten up some students. I came to the school to inquiry and got to know that the allegations levelled against him were true. Students personally told me that they were beaten up by the teacher without any reason. As alcohol consumption during office hours is illegal, steps will be taken against him. The principal also admitted that he came to school in an inebriated condition.”
