A thick blanket of security cover will be in place for the crucial India-South Africa T20 international match to be played at Barabati stadium in Cuttack tomorrow (June 12).

Around 62 platoons of police force, 3 DCsP, 7 Additional DCsP, 32 ACsP, 277 sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, 113 traffic personnel and 43 women constables will be deployed during the match.

Apart from route lining, traffic regulation and crowd control, focus has been given on security in various galleries, special enclosures, pavilion and other parts inside the Barabati stadium.

Senior officials of Commissionerate Police today said that special provision for mobile patrolling has also been made to keep a tab on anti-social elements. Sources said Special Tactical Unit (STU), Bomb Disposal Squad and fire services personnel will also be deployed to tackle any emergency situation. Anti-Terrorist Squad headed by one Subedar rank officer will also be on standby to counter any subversive activities.

A CCTV control room has been set up inside Odisha Cricket Association for strict surveillance at the all the entry, exit and strategic locations in and around the Barabati stadium.

“Contingency plan to meet with situations like act of terrorism involving arms and explosive, act of hostage taking of players /VVIPs /situation of overcrowding and stampede inside the stadium, situations like fire incident and collapse of building and any other grave situation including natural disasters has been made. QRT have been kept in readiness inside and outside the stadium to meet with any eventuality without delay,” Commissionerate Police said in a release.
