Three elephants die after being hit by train in Odisha's Keonjhar

The three elephants were part of a herd that was crossing the railway tracks near Behera hutting under Joda police station yesterday when they were hit by a freight train.

Three elephants die after being hit by train in Odisha's Keonjhar

Two more elephants injured in the train mishap near Joda of Keonjhar district succumbed to their injuries on Friday, taking the death toll to three.

Yesterday a calf that had sustained injuries had died. 

As per sources, the three elephants were part of a herd that was crossing the railway tracks near Behera hutting under Joda police station yesterday when they were hit by a freight train.

There were 19 elephants in the herd. Three elephants including a mother elephant and two calves were injured in the mishap.

While an injured calf died during treatment last night, another baby elephant and a female elephant died today morning.
