Tension erupted in Dhinkia after a delegation comprising members of 13 organisations was denied entry to the village by a group of villagers who are in favour of the proposed JSW steel plant project.

According to reports, the delegation consisted of members of 13 political parties such as the RJD, AAP, CPI, and CPI(M). They had come to visit the village and take stock of the ground situation. However, the villagers opposed their entry and forced the delegation to return.
When the delegation tried to enter the village they faced opposition from supporters of the project and a verbal spat ensued between villagers and the members of the delegation.

The villagers said they opposed the entry of the delegation as they had come to mobilise villagers against the JSW project.

“We will not allow outsiders to enter our village,” the villagers could be heard saying.

Meanwhile, members of the delegation questioned the Naveen Patnaik led government's administration and alleged police highhandedness. And questioned why police were not present on the site even if they had information about the delegation’s visit to the village.

One of the members also said after returning from Dhinkia then will be meeting the Chief Minister to discuss about restoring democracy in the area and will seek police protection to political leaders who want to visit the village.
