BJD legislator from Anandpur, Bhagirathi Sethi on Tuesday blasted his own party MLA and State Health Minister Naba Kishore Das over the impoverished state of health affairs in Keonjhar district.

Sethi expressed his sadness and helplessness towards non-improvement in the situation despite seeking attention of the Health Minister.
Keonjhar district headquarters hospital lacks staff in major departments. Health centres in Keonjhar do not have doctors and even pharmacists and under such situation, peons have been administering health check-up to patients, said the MLA.

Anandpur does not have a good quality hospital and people in need of even basic health diagnosis are forced to travel more than a hundred km all the way to Cuttack, alleged Sethi.

Sethi rued that there has been no change in the desperate situation despite sincere and repeated pleas to the Health Minister.

"MLA Badri Patra and I have often attracted Naba Das's attention over the issue but there has been no change. So I feel that talking to minister Naba Das is akin to slapping yourself," expressed Sethi.

The MLA, at last, demanded that a super specialty hospital is the need of the hour in Keonjhar as there is no dearth of funds in the mineral-rich district and the government can easily afford to set up one such health facility for the good of all.

Meanwhile, BJD MLA Raj Kishore Das said the concerns raised by Sethi will be given due consideration.

"There is indeed a shortage of doctors in Odisha and the government is taking all necessary steps to resolve the situation," said  Das.
