In a new twist to the Software engineer Sweta Kumari’s death case, it has come to the fore that the deceased had taken a loan of Rs 2.30 lakh. However, Sweta’s family members are clueless about the loan.

As per sources, Sweta took a loan of Rs 2.30 lakh but did not inform her parents in this regard. Though the police have already got the loan link, they are yet to find out the sender to whom she transferred the money.

There is also mention of the loan amount in the WhatsApp chat between Sweta and Soumyajeet. It is learnt that Soumyajeet had become jobless and was staying with Sweta. It is suspected that Sweta might have taken the loan during that time.

Police on Friday obtained the WhatsApp chat between Sweta and Soumyajit’s mother where the former asked the latter to return the money Soumyajeet had taken from her.

In the chat, Sweta had written that Soumyajeet took a big amount of money before starting to stay at hostel.

It may be mentioned here that Bhadrak-born Sweta, who worked with a reputed IT company in Bhubaneswar, was believed to be in a relationship with Soumyajeet. The family members of the deceased alleged that she took the extreme step after being blackmailed by her boyfriend.

Police recently recorded the statement of one of Sweta’s friends who had said, “For the last six months, Sweta and Soumyajit were not on good terms. But, Soumyajit had started ignoring her after his admission into XIMB. Sweta was well aware of the fact that Soumyajit had betrayed three girls before falling in love with her. So, Sweta had insisted him to get married if he wanted to continue the relationship.”
