The students of a residential school in Narayanpatna area of Koraput district on Sunday walked to the office of Block Development Officer (BDO) to complain about service of sub-standard food in their educational institute.

The aggrieved students alleged that even after complaining several times about the service of poor quality of food, the headmaster of the institute, S Anand Rao has not reportedly taken any necessary steps to resolve the issue.

“We are being served substandard food at our school. Whenever we request the headmaster to include vegetables in our meal, he clarifies that he cannot afford them for us. He also hurls abusive languages at us during our complaints about the food,” alleged Lipi Mandingi, a student.

“Unable to bear his torture, we have come to seek intervention of the Block Development Officer. If he is not transferred immediately, we will not sit for the examinations,” Lipi demanded.

Barsharani Kandagori, another student of the school, alleged, “The headmaster of our school misbehaves and uses filthy languages at us. We have already dropped our complaints at the block office but no action has been taken so far."

Meanwhile, the district welfare officer reached the school to conduct a probe into the allegations levelled by the students. He has assured of taking necessary action following investigation into the matter.

However, Anand Rao, the headmaster of the school, has refuted the allegations levelled against him and said the complaints are baseless.

“The students are provided with good quality food. These are false charges against me,” Rao said.
