The state witnessed season’s first dengue death case with a senior police officer succumbing to the disease on Wednesday.
According to sources, former additional deputy commissioner of police Sudarshan Sethi was undergoing treatment at a private hospital after being diagnosed with dengue. He died of the disease last night.

Giving latest report on the number of dengue cases, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das said, two dengue cases have been identified so far. While one is a resident of Niladri Vihar, another affected belongs to Damana.

Sulochana further said “We are creating awareness among people. Steps are being taken to remove piles of tyres and stagnant water from roads as measures to contain the disease from spreading.”

Mayor, meanwhile, has urged residents to remain careful and take necessary precautions to keep the disease at bay.

With the outbreak of the water-borne disease, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation is all set to launch awareness drive to deal with the menace.
According to sources last year the mosquito-borne viral disease had become a cause of concern for residents in far-off places and rural pockets like Malkangiri where the public struggled to access proper healthcare.
