The personnel of Athagarh forest division stumbled upon the skeletal remains of another elephant in Chandragiri reserve forest under Badamba range of Athagarh forest division in Cuttack district.

"Forest staff of Athagarh Division has recovered the body parts of one more elephant from the Chandragiri reserve forest of Janipadar beat of Badamba Range near Kharod village on June 14," informed Athagarh DFO Sudarshan Gopinath Yadav. 

Yadav said the remains which appear to be part of a male elephant were discovered while the forest officials were investigating the cases of recovery of body parts of two elephants in Badamba range. 

No tusks were recovered from the site, Yadav said.

"Investigation has been launched into this case to find the accused," he added.

Notably, two decomposed jumbo carcasses were recovered from Athagarh forest division recently. Subsequently, another tusker with gunshot wounds was found lying near a rivulet in Narasinghapur forest range under Athagarh forest division. 

After battling for eight days, the tusker gave up battle for life on Tuesday.
