In a heart-wrenching incident, a five-year-old boy was swept away by floodwater in a canal in the State Capital on Sunday. Reports said, the incident occurred while the boy was playing outside his house when all of a sudden he went missing.

Soon his family members launched a frantic search for him and learnt that he had reportedly been swept away in Gangua canal. The boy's family informed the fire brigade personnel who reached the spot immediately and recovered the boy.

He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead upon arrival. A case has been registered in this connection after the body was sent to Capital Hospital for autopsy.

Worth mentioning, a 15-year-old boy was swept away by stormwater in an open drain in Bhubaneswar last year.
