Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bijay Mohapatra targeted the State government and the police alleging tardy probe in the Kalahandi teacher Mamita Meher murder case.

Alleging that the Police was trying to weaken the case against the prime accused, Gobinda Sahu, Mohapatra said that the police had filed the case diary in the court belatedly.

“Though the FIR was registered on October 13, the police took three days to file the case diary in Bangomunda SDJM court on October 16,” he alleged.

Mohapatra suspected foul play and an attempt by the Police to weaken the case against Sahu in those three days.

Raking up the allegations of a suspected sex racket operating at the Mahaling college hostel, Mohapatra said, “The case diary clearly mentions that a sex racket in operation at the college hostel, but Gobinda Sahu’s name was very conveniently omitted from the case diary.”

Earlier, Mohapatra had alleged that Dibya Shankar Mishra was with Gobinda Sahu and Mamita Meher in Raipur days before the lady teacher was killed. The BJP had alleged that the meeting between the accused and the lady teacher was held thrice in the city.

The BJP leader further alleged that Govind Sahu was in touch with the Minister and had telephonic conversation with latter when he was at the police barracks in Titilagarh from where he staged a dramatic escape under doubtful circumstances.

Mohapatra also alleged that the Minister possesses massive property in Raipur.
