Security guards treat patients in Mayurbhanj hospital, video goes viral

Odisha government might be boasting about providing modern healthcare facilities to the people. However, the reality is that healthcare facilities in the State are in shambles.

A sorry state of the healthcare facility has come to the fore in Mayurbhanj district of the State. As per reports, security guards are often providing treatments to patients in Nilagiri hospital due to the absence of doctors. A video of such an incident has reportedly gone viral on various social media platforms.

As per the allegation of some of the patients, some temporary security guards engaged in the hospital are acting like doctors and treating the patients. In the process, the fake doctors are putting the lives of the patients in grave danger. Sometimes, they are working as painters and other times giving medicines to patients as doctors. Some male and female security guards are involved in this mischief.

Upon being informed about the incidents regarding security guards turning doctors in the hospital, Medical Officer Sarojini Pradhan said she is aware of it.

“We are aware of the incidents and the security guards have been given warning. Necessary actions have been initiated against them,” said Pradhan.

However, Pradhan refused to divulge details about the kind of action taken against the erring guards.
