Tension prevailed at the Cuttack SCB hospital on Friday after a menacing act of some security guards left a petient in despair and triggered sharp reactions from local people and other visitors at the premier health institute.

According to sources, a person had brought his daughter to the hospital for treatment of an illness. However, some security guards deployed on duty near the main gate of the hospital obstructed him from entering. Moreover, they reportedly prevented him from parking his vehicle and snatched his bike keys. The father of the little patient alleged that he was misbevahed by the security guards at the hospital.

Later, some members of a social organisation named Subas Sangathan arrived at the spot and took the matter to police outpost. They condemned such repeated actions of the security guards and termed it as sheer 'dadagiri'.

Two days back, a security guard had reportedly thrashed a driver of 108 ambulance. The organisation members criticised the police for not taking action against the security guards for creating nuisance and threats against the people.

A member of the Subas Sangathan said, “At a time when police cannot dare touch a person without any reason, the security guards employed at the hospital took away the man's bike keys and did not even allow him to get into the hospital, this is utterly shameful.”

No comments could be obtained from the SCB authorities or the security guards in this connection.
