A science city will come up in Bhubaneswar, informed Odisha Science and Technology Minister Ashok Panda on Friday. The proposed science city at Bhubaneswar will be on similar lines with the existing one in Kolkata. Already the State government has allotted 30 acres of land for the project, Panda said.

Apart from the science city, a district science centre-cum-planetarium and a nature museum on Satkosia biosphere is on the cards. As per official sources, a site measuring 3.700 acre has been identified by the Puri district administration in Siddhamahavir mouza for the district science centre-cum-planetarium.

The proposed project will provide unique experience of experimental learning to students and public with interactive models and concepts on general science, gallery on marine resources, gallery on Lord Jagannath culture and other astronomy shows.

Similarly, the Satkosia Biosphere will also come up at Satkosia. It is likely to be a point of attraction for the tourists coming to the region. The project has been planned keeping in view the immense potential for eco-tourism, research studies by students and academicians. Hence, the nature museum on ‘Satkosia biosphere’ has been approved by the government.
