At a time when having Aadhaar card is necessary to avail of all government subsidies and benefits, if eligible, Kaladhuan villagers under Sunabeda sanctuary in Nuapada district are suffering as they are yet to get their Unique Identification.

The villagers are deprived of all the government benefits as they need to produce their Aadhaar card in order to avail of the various subsidies or programmes of the government.

As per reports, apart from 2-3 persons, the locals of Kaladhuan, which has a population of around 60 people, don't have Aadhaar card.

"We are not getting any work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as we don't have the Aadhaar number. We are facing a lot of problems," said a local.

The people here are not getting any work under MGNREGA. They are also deprived of the central and State government housing schemes. They don't even have job card, said another local.

He further said that the villagers are even unable to open bank accounts as they don't have the Aadhaar number which is mandatory for opening a bank account.

Meanwhile, Komna BDO Sadashiv Indra said that the Aadhaar card issue will be resolved soon through a special camp for the same.

"We had earlier held a special camp in the region. They (locals of Kaladhuan) might have missed it. I will take steps to soon set up another special camp in the region and issue Aadhaar cards," assured Indra.
