The Orissa High Court on Tuesday ordered the State government to regularise jobs of contractual data entry operators engaged in four outsourcing departments. These departments are Local Fund Audit, Sub Registrar, Loka Seva Bhavan and Gopabandhu Academy.

As per the decision of the Court, the Odisha government must give equal facilities to the contractual workers at par with the regular workers within a period of three months.

Around 1500 contractual data entry operators will be benefitted by the Court's order.

“Some of the individual contractual workers have been working for the last 12 to 15 years. The Court has ordered the State government to regularise their jobs and extend them facilities at par with the regular workers,” said lawyer, Bhabani Shankar Tripathy.

Earlier in 2018, the Court had ordered the State government to regularise jobs of 75 contractual data entry operators engaged in the Commercial Tax Department.

The High Court issued the order upholding the earlier order of the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) in the matter. Challenging OAT’s order, the State government had moved the High Court.
