The recent initiative of the Indian Railways to offer car ride to a student from Ekta Nagar railway station to Vadodara station following cancellation of train has evoked warm response from netizens all around.

According to reports, Satyam, an Aerospace engineering student from IIT Madras was supposed to travel to Chennai by rail, however due to cancellation of train, he was left exasperated. But fortunately, the railway authorities went out of their way to arrange a car ride to the student to facilitate his travel to Vadodara so that he could board himself to his final destination with least hassles.

While the out-of-the box service by the Indian Railways has been lauded by many, BJP National Vice-President, Baijayant Panda too showered praises for the noble gesture by the national transporter.

“In what could turn out to be a disaster for this student from IIT Madras, Indian Railways saved the day for him by showing its humane and benignant side. This transformation, which happened under the current regime is helping many travellers,” tweeted Panda.

Satyam also thanked Ekta Nagar and Vadodara railways for the assistance and making his journey a success. “As the tracks were washed out, the train was cancelled at the last moment. The authorities hired a car for me so that I reach my destination. The car driver took a challenge so that I could catch a train from Vadodara station. I did not have to pick up my luggage and search for platform as I got all the help from the railway officials,” Satyam added.
