Members of the senior citizens' forum on Monday staged a rail roko agitation at Soro railway station demanding halting of two express trains at the station.

The agitators including women sat on the railway tracks as part of their protest and demanded halt of Sri Jagannath Express and Utkal Express.

As per sources, the two express trains used to halt at Soro station before the outbreak of Covid-19. However, the halting of the trains was suspended post-pandemic.

The protesters said that people of four blocks, who depend on the railway station, are now facing considerable inconvenience due to the suspension of halt of trains at the station.

Due to the rail roko agitation, the train movement on the route got affected and passengers who arrived at Soro railway station to catch trains to their respective destinations faced many difficulties.

Police officials were seen holding discussion with the angry agitators to pacify them. However, the agitation was underway till the filing of the last report.
