Kolkata wing of Competent Authority on Sunday confiscated movable and immovable property worth Rs 6 crore of Khallikote-based drug smuggler Rajanikant Patnaik.

Patnaik, a resident of Khojapalli village under Khallikote police station, is presently lodged in jail on charges of smuggling marijuana.

It has also seized gold ornaments worth 4.52 crore, Rs 75 lakh in cash, Rs 5 lakh in bank account, land worth Rs 32 lakh and LIC policy worth Rs 3 lakh.

Police had nabbed Rajanikant when he was smuggling marijuana in his scooter on October 22, 2021. Later, police conducted a raid and seized marijuana and opium weighing 35 kilogram and 10 kilogram respectively. Also, gold ornaments weighing 8.500 kilogram was seized from his house during the raid.
