With India all set to elect its 15th President, Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, the hometown of NDA’s Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, is geared up for the celebrations ahead of the poll results today.

If media reports are to be believed, Murmu has a clear edge over Opposition’s Prez pick Yashwant Sinha and she is more likely to occupy the top constitutional post of the country.

Murmu’s village has planned a series of events to mark her victory even as sweets are being prepared for distribution among the villagers.

According to sources, over 10,000 laddus are being prepared to be distributed among the locals following the announcement of the results.

Meanwhile, security arrangements have been tightened at Murmu’s village expecting large crowds towards the end of the day.
“The laddus are being made using desi ghee and dry fruits. The sweet will distributed outside Murmu’s house after the result is declared,” a local said.

“We have urged the leaders of all political parties to participate in the celebration planned outside Didi (Murmu)’s house. Over 10 quintals of laddos have been made to mark the victory,” another local said.

On the other hand, the excitement of students at Arabinda Purnanga Sikhyakendra where Mrumu used to teach and Rama Devi University where she studied, has reached the zenith. The students are hopeful of her win.

“We address Murmu as Apa. She is like our elder sister. We hope she will emerge victorious and hold the top most constitutional post,” said an excited student of Rama Devi.

Echoing a similar opinion, another college student said, “We are very confident she will win the Presidential election. We are praying for her victory.”
