At a time when the State is witnessing a volley of protests demanding justice for Ruchika Mohanty who allegedly killed herself following unbearable ragging, another student of the BJB College in Bhubaneswar has brought ragging allegations against his seniors.

The victim, a Plus 2 Arts student of the college, has filed a complaint in this connection at Badagada Police Station. In his complaint, the student has alleged that some of his seniors subjected him to mental and physical torture.

“I had lodged an FIR against them (the accused) around 10 days ago. They ragged me and asked why I was taking bike to college. They even thrashed me. I lodged an FIR in the police station. I had even given an application in the college,” said the student.

However, neither the police nor the college authorities took any step. Today, they dragged me from the Plus 2 campus to the Plus 3 campus and thrashed me, he added.

However, reactions of the BJB college authorities over the allegation could not be obtained.

A Plus 2 second year Commerce student had earlier on July 7 lodged a ragging complaint at Badagada police station. He had alleged that some of his classmates assaulted him and snatched away his motorcycle.

On the other hand, the student wing of the Naba Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangha on Tuesday observed a peaceful Odisha bandh from 6 am to 6 pm demanding justice for BJB College girl student Ruchika Mohanty who died by suicide on July 2 due to alleged ragging by seniors.

The parents of Ruchika have been demanding CBI inquiry into alleged ragging that reportedly led to the death of their daughter.
