SCS College Plus 2 girl student found dead in hostel, suicide note recovered

A Plus 2 girl student on Monday was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her hostel room at Samanta Chandra Sekhar (SCS) Autonomous College in Puri. She was a second year student and residing in the college hostel.

While no exact reason of her death was ascertained immediately, preliminary probe revealed the girl had died by suicide. The matter came to the fore after she did not open her hostel door this morning.

According to sources, a few friends of the victim had gone to call her for Diwali celebration, but found her room locked from inside. Despite repeated knocks and calls on her mobile phone, the girl did not open the door nor received their phone call.

Suspecting foul play, they soon alerted the hostel superintendent who then informed the cops. A police team reached the hostel and broke open the door to find her hanging from a ceiling fan.

The cops, in the presence of a scientific team, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy. A case was registered in this connection and a probe was launched.

A suicide note purportedly written by the girl was recovered from her room. A DSP rank officer will investigate the case, sources said.
