Rout, aresident of Shankarpur in Cuttack was once a frontline member of the film industry. His countless trendy snaps and short videos with popular actors, directors gives a true picture of his lavish lifestyle of past years. But, a circumstance that arose out of the corona pandemic has changed everything in his life including his passion and profession.

43-year-old Rout had started his career as a group dancer in the film industry in 1985. Thereafter, he didn't  look back and went ahead with directing more than 7,000 musical albums and choreographing in as many as 13 block buster Odia movies.

After the pandemic wreaked havoc on the profession of artiste in the State, Rout's fate took a turn around like many others.

However, the pandemic may just have snatched away his profession, but not hopes.

He started a small business by opening a chicken centre- naming it "Khushi Chicken centre," in his locality to make ends meet.  He said that the shop had helped enough to survive at a time of distress.

“If I had not opened this shop, I would have suffered from heart stroke out of frustration. Now, my business is running well,” he said.

Rout claimed to have directed the highest number of album videos in Odisha along with choreographing in many Odia flicks. “Recently, I had three films produced and directed by me, which are ready to hit the screen. But, Covid 19 has come on its way. Let’s see, when these would be released,” Jitu said.

At a time when lakhs are getting frustrated following loss of livelihood, Jitu has become an example and inspiration for many.
