The price of milk is all set to increase in the State with the (Omfed) Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation deciding to revise the procurement and marketing prices.

As per sources, the price of the milk will go up by Rs 2 per litre. The increased rate will come into effect from April 21. Omfed informed that the decision was taken considering the long-standing demands of milk farmers.

"Omfed with due approval of the State Govt is going to revise the milk Procurement & Marketing prices looking into the persistent demand of the milk farmers of Odisha," an official release by the federation said. 

At present, 500 ml of Omfed milk is sold at Rs 23. After the revision in the price, the packet will cost Rs 24. 

On the other hand, Omfed is going to launch a new variety of milk for tea vendors. The milk will cost Rs 23 per 500 ml. The milk variety will be available in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and Puri in the initial phase.
