A youth from Odisha has claimed of creating a world record in balancing hockey stick in one finger. Now he aspires to see his name enter the Guinness Book of World Records. 

Rajgopal Bhoi, a resident of Jamutjhula village in Tureikela block of Bolangir district said that he has been able to balance a hockey stick on one finger for around 3 hours 35 minutes which is a world record.

"I managed to break all previous world records by balancing a hockey stick on one finger for 3.35 hours. I have submitted all necessary documents and other proofs of my record attempt to the Guinness World Records (GWR). The certification of my bid will take around 3 months. Thereafter, I can be officially recognized for this world record," Rajgopal told OTV.

As per the official website of GWR, the present world record on longest duration of balancing a field hockey stick on one finger stands in the name of a Bangalore man named Himanshu Gupta.

The longest duration of balancing a field hockey stick on one finger is 2 hr 22 min 22 sec and was achieved by Himanshu Gupta (India) in Bangalore, India, on 19 August 2017, a quote mentioned in the website of the Guinness World Records said.

Guinness World Records is the primary international authority on the cataloguing and verification of a huge number of world records. The reference book published by the organisation maintains such records for publication in its yearly editions. As of 2021, in its 66th year of publication, covering 100 countries and 23 languages, the book of GWR maintains over 53,000 records in its database.
