The deceased was a student of Salapada Adarsha Vidyalaya. His sister also studies at the same school.

According to initial reports, the boy started playing Free Fire game on mobile phone after returning from school today. However, his mother stopped him from playing the game as his examination was scheduled for tomorrow.

One of the teachers of the school had reportedly informed his mother that he frequently played mobile games.

However, the boy lost temper after he was stopped by his mother from playing games. In a fit of rage the boy allegedly went the roof of his house and later hanged himself with the help of a towel.

Though he was rushed to the Anandapur hospital by family members, doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead. A pall of gloom descended over the village following the boy’s death.

“He had been attending online classes over smartphone after physical classes were suspended last year due to Covid-19. Recently he started attending physical classes following the lifting of the restrictions by the government. After arriving at home from school today, my son started playing Free Fire game on his mobile. I asked him to focus on study and snatched the phone from him. Later, I also called one of his teachers to discuss the issue,” the mother of the boy said.

To the shock of his mother, the boy climbed the house terrace and took the extreme step. “He suddenly went to the rooftop. I never thought he would take such an extreme step. The Free Fire game took the life of my son,” the bereaved mother said while crying uncontrollably.
