Odisha’s per capita income has risen significantly between 2011 and 2020 and the growth rate was higher than the national average, said NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar on Wednesday. 

Kumar who arrived in Odisha on a three-day visit said various issues will be discussed with the State government.

“Is is one of the major objectives of Niti Aayog is to hold meeting with all the State governments and discuss various issues in which we can help them. We also discuss about preparing blueprint of development with the State governments. These are the main agendas and we have come to Odisha to hold discussion over it,” Kumar told mediapersons at Bhubaneswar airport.  

Asked about the issues on which discussion will be held with the State government, he said, “Odisha is stocked with rich minerals and there will also be discussions on how to grow more and make more good use. Besides, discussion will also be held on the development of tourism and agriculture sectors.”

The Niti Aayog VC is scheduled to hold discussion with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra at a high-level meeting to be held at the Lok Seva Bhawan today. 

The State government is expected to put forth several key demands before the Centre during the meeting. 

Yesterday, a seven-member team led by Niti Aayog member VK Paul arrived in Bhubaneswar. The team is scheduled to hold meeting with senior officials of the Odisha government on various issues associated with health, education and economic sectors.
