With the current tenure of the three-tier Panchayati Raj bodies in Odisha set to expire by March 2022, the State Election Commission has decided to conduct the election for new representatives to the posts before the end of the term.

The complete ward-wise voters’ list for the electoral process will be published before December 14, 2021, said Odisha State Election Commissioner Aditya Prasad Padhi.

“Those who will have attained the age of 18 till November 1, 2021, are eligible voters and can apply to be included in the list of electoral rolls. The voters' list will be put up for necessary revision after correction of errors in all the districts across the State except Balasore,” said Padhi during a press meet.

He further said the primary voters’ lists of all the gram panchayats will be published on November 16. The voters may submit their demands and complaints if any before the electoral registrar office by November 23. The concerned authorities can make necessary corrections and dispose the cases between November 24 and 26.

“Those still dissatisfied over the drafted list may submit their applications before the Block Development Authority (BDO) between November 29 and 30. The BDO will look into the complaints and take necessary actions from December 1 to 2.

The final voters’ list will be made ready by December 6 and after the approval of the Chief Election Commissioner, it will be publishd by December 14,” said Padhi.

He clarified that the voters’ list will be prepared initially for 29 districts except Balasore. It is
due to delay in reservation and delimitation process as the State Government is likely to give NAC status to Remuna in near future.
