In a bid to provide emergency healthcare services to stray and destitute animals, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched a Statewide Animal Helpline. The helpline with a toll free number 1962 will function round-the-clock and is expected to come to the rescue of stray animals in distress.

Apart from this, Patnaik also launched tele-veterinary services. The services will provide livestock healthcare and animal husbandry advisory services to farmers and pet owners over phone.

As per official sources, people can avail the service from 10 am to 5:30 pm by dialing 1962 or 155333 toll free numbers. Similarly, Fisheries & Animal Resources Mapping System (FARMS) has also been launched today.

Through this Web-GIS platform, one can get information on all the assets created in beneficiary-oriented schemes under F&ARD dept. through satellite images by remote sensing.

An MoU has been signed between F&ARD Dept., Odisha government and BAIF Livelihoods for deployment of 1500 trained youths in the state to provide artificial insemination and basic animal health care services.
