Odisha govt’s Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana falls flat
The food processing industry in Odisha has not witnessed the desired growth due to absence of proper infrastructure like product aggregators and supply chain, said agriculture production commissioner Sanjiv Chopra.
Attending a curtain riser programme for the Odisha FoodPro 2022 set to be held on July 21, Chopra said many companies are not interested to open units in Odisha due to lack of growth in the food processing industry.
He further said the State government’s flagship Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana has also not made any noteworthy progress.
“There are many scopes in Mukhyamantri Krushi Udyog Yojana which was launched in June 2018 in order to promote agri-entrepreneurship. However, it is a matter of disappointment that we have been able to establish only around 600-650 units so far,” Chopra said.
“For a state like Odisha, which has so much a agriculture produces, to establish only 600-700 units in more than four years is not a very healthy sign,” he added.
