The Odisha government on Wednesday revised its decision pertaining to students’ participation in the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in the State. Revising its earlier decision, the government has allowed the students to take part in the celebrations on August 15.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash was earlier quoted as saying “As per the guideline issued by the State government, Independence Day celebration this year will be held in schools without the participation of students. However, teachers need to be present during the whole event. This decision was taken keeping fourth wave of corona in mind.”

Changing the decision again, the minister informed the media that school children can participate in the Independence Day celebrations in educational institutions across the State.

However, the government has imposed a restriction on the participation of common people in the celebrations. It has also said no to the state-level parade on the occasion.
