As per a popular adage - love knows no religion, race or politics, for it rules the realms of the heart. And Saina Banu from Paikamal village in Bolangir district has proved the truth of this saying to the very best.

Born and raised under Islam faith, Saina has recently embraced Hinduism to marry the love of her life.

Saina has adopted Hinduism and taken up a new name Sonam Arya upon completion of some rituals under the authority of Bolangir Arya Samaj

As per reports, Saina has always been fascinated by Hinduism, its faith, practices and customs, from her very childhood. When she grew up she fell in love with a boy from the other community and wanted to marry him.

However, as religion was a major hindrance in her life's motive, Saina mustered all courage and narrated her feelings before her family members. And what happened next sent her to cloud nine.

To her surprise, her parents heartily agreed to her proposal to convert and marry the boy she wanted so badly.

Subsequently, Saina took the guidance from Bolangir Arya Samaj who inducted her into Hinduism.

“I have converted myself to Hinduism as per my own wish. I have not succumbed to any kind of pressure from anybody. To marry my lover, change of my religion was necessary and I had no other option left,” said Sonam.

The Bolangir Arya Samaj too has expressed its pleasure over the change in Sonam's life.

“We are so elated that one of our sisters has converted her to Hinduism. She was attracted towards Hinduism from her childhood and finally she followed her heart,” said Hitesh Sahu, Secretary of Bolangir Arya Samaj.
