The flood situation in Odisha is likely to peak in three hours. This period is extremely crucial for all, said the Engineer in Chief of Odisha Water Resources Department Bijay Kumar Mishra.

Sharing updates on the present scenario, Mishra said the water flow at Mundali was 11.6 lakh cusec at 9 am today. It will increase for some more time before becoming steady and then gradually recede. This is a moderate level flood and not minor one as we had initially predicted, said the EIC.

The water level of Hirakud Dam at 9 am today was at 625.54 feet and while the inflow of water stood at 7.64 lakh while outflow 4.48 lakh. The water level has started to show falling trend in Patharla, Khairamal and Barmul.

On Hirakud Dam discharge status, the EIC further said a decision whether more gates of the reservoir will have to be opened or not will be taken after due calculation today afternoon.
