Already there is a lot of buzz over shift to electric vehicles in the country. In order to encourage the faster adoption of electric vehicles, the Odisha government came up with the Electric Vehicle Policy 2021 on September 2 this year.

The State government has allowed 100 per cent exemption of motor vehicles (MV) taxes and also registration fees in respect of all types of battery operated vehicles (electric vehicles) up to 31, 12, 2025.

As a lot of people are still apprehensive, the State Transport Authority (STA) has shared important information about the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy 2021 and its key features.

Details:

-100 per cent exemption of motor vehicle tax and registration fees for electric vehicles (EVs) purchased within Odisha up to 31-12-2025

-Transport or non-transport electric vehicle registered in Odisha are exempted of MV tax and registration fee.

-Two-wheeler (2W) EVs: Subsidy is available at 15 per cent of cost of vehicle, subject to a cap of Rs 5,000.

-Three-Wheeler (3W): Subsidy is available at 15 per cent of cost of vehicle, subject to a cap of Rs 10,000.

-Four Wheeler (4W): Subsidy is available at 15 per cent of cost of vehicle, subject to a cap of Rs 50,000.

Electric Buses (e-buses): Subsidy is available at 10 per cent of cost of vehicle, subject to a cap of Rs 2,00,000 for non-AC, Rs 3,00,000 for AC and Rs 4,00,000 for AC deluxe buses.

Goods Carrier:Individual and fleet owners shall be given purchase incentive of Rs 30,000 to first 5000 electric goods carrier to be registered in Odisha.
