The holy day is observed on Kanya Sankranti every year and marks the birth anniversary of the brain child of Lord Brahma and world's architect.

It is believed that worshipping Lord Vishwakarma on this pious occasion brings prosperity in business, trade, commerce and industrial growth.

According to astrological determination, this year Vishwakarma puja will have three specific subh Muhurat (auspicious timings) for religious rituals and observance of other nitis.

Morning: 07.39 AM - 09.11 AM

Afternoon: 01.48 PM - 03.20 PM

Afternoon: 03.20 PM - 04.52 PM

Vishwakarma puja in Odisha:

The grandeur of the puja in port town of Paradip, Angul’s Nalco Nagar, Sundargarh’s Rourkela and Keonjhar’s Joda and Barbil areas is seen to be believed in Odisha.

Significance of the festival:

Mythological legends say that Vishwakarma built the holy city of Lord Krishna’s Dwarka, Pushpak Vimana and Swarna Lanka for Ravana and Indraprastha for the Pandavas. He is also credited to have carved the supreme body of the holy Trinity of Puri Srimandir.
