The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday lambasted the State government over a proposal to shift the Bhadrak Wildlife Division Office from Chandbali to Rajnagar in Kendrapara and threatened to hit the streets if the proposed move is not withdrawn.

Coming down heavily on the ruling BJD government at a press conference, leader of the saffron party Manmohan Samal said, “This is a conspiracy by the State government. The government should refrain from misleading people and practicing cheap politics.”

He added, “If the government does not withdraw the proposal, we will intensify our protest and hit the streets,” Samal cautioned.

As per the Forest and Environment department’s proposal Chandbali will become a sub-division office in the event the DFO office is shifted to Rajnagar, Samal said.

Reacting to BJP’s allegation, BJD’s Chandbali MLA, Byomakesh Ray said this was only a proposal and he will look into the matter as a public representative.

“The Rajnagar DFO has proposed the PCCF to merge the Chandbali DFO office with the latter. That is a proposal only and it is yet to get government approval. There is nothing to worry. I will look into the matter,” Ray said.
