The mortal remain of an Odia youth was brought back to his native village in Kendrapada district on Thursday from Dubai following the intervention of BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Jay Panda.

As per reports, Narayan Rout, a resident of Chakibanka villager under Rajnagar police limits of the district died on-duty in Abu Dhabi on December 12. Narayan's brother Sudhir Kumar Rout had approached Panda to bring back the body to his native village in Odisha from the foreign land.

"On December 12 we were informed about my brother's death over a phone call. All our efforts to bring his body back from Dubai failed. Left out with no other option, we requested Panda Babu (Jay Panda) and sought his help for the same," said Sudhir.

Later, Panda took the initiative in this regard and sought diplomatic intervention of the Embassy of India in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai. In a letter, Panda had requested the Indian Ambassador to take necessary steps for facilitating the return of the body and had provided the required documents.

Finally, on December 23, Narayan's body arrived at the Bhubaneswar airport where arrangements for receiving the body and paying the last respect were made by Panda's office. Later the mortal remain of Narayan was handed over to his family members.

Narayan's family members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Panda for his help.

"We are extremely thankful to him as he took immediate steps to make the necessary arrangements to bring back my brother's mortal remains," said Sudhir.
