Bringing laurels for Odisha, Swapna Priyadarsini from Dhenkanal has bagged the second runner-up title in MTV’s Supermodel Of The Year Season 2 which was recently held in Mumbai.

19-year-old Swapna who is a native of Kunjakant in Dhenkanal district has always dreamt of ruling the runway internationally since her childhood and she has proved her mettle in the grand finale of the modelling contest which she claims has brought her one step closer to her dream.

The shows judges Malaika Arora, Milind Soman and Anusha Dandekar appreciated Swapna for her confidence and gracefulness.

Sharing about her journey, Swapna said she never thought of being part of the event so she was very casual during the whole selection process and went on with the flow before clearing the auditions which were held virtually through Zoom.

Later, she went to Mumbai to shoot for the show along with 15 other contestants from various corners of the country and a participant from Nepal for 20 days.

Swapna said she was quite happy to be part of the show at the national level where she could share about her culture.

“The journey was quite memorable as I was able to share about the rich tradition and culture of Odisha. I learnt a lot of things about modelling,” said the 19-year-old.

Swapna said her best moment on the show was matching steps with Malaika on the ramp to the tune of classic Odia folk song Rangabati.

On her future plans, Swapna said that she aspires for a big break with international brands so that she can walk the ramp in international fashion weeks.

Swapna's parents Biswajit and Madhumita Routray say that they have always supported her in this unconventional choice of career and are proud of her achievement.

"Her hard work has paid off. From childhood, she was inclined to this field and as parents, we have always supported her," said Swapna's father Biswajit Routray.
