An Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer has been locked up in his own office chamber for allegedly not cooperating in the development works.

Satyanarayan Meher, the block development officer (BDO) of Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur district, was locked up in his office by the block chairperson Ramula Gond on Wednesday.

Gond accused the BDO of non-cooperation in the development works in the block. As per her allegations, the BDO refused to provide layouts of various development works to be carried out under the block area.

On the other hand, the BDO defended himself and said junior engineers who are supposed to provide the layouts of the proposed works are out on the field.

“The block chairperson remained firm on her demand of providing layouts for development works. I have asked JEs (junior engineers) to provide the layouts. They are on the field and assured to provide the layout by today,” the BDO said.

“The block chairperson is not letting anyone into my chamber. Many employees are also waiting outside. She said she would unlock the chamber once JEs come and provide the layout of the works,” he added.
