Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were martyred in a Maoist ambush at Patadhara reserve forest under Nuapada's Boden block on Tuesday. Several other CRPF personnel were also injured in the attack.

The martyred jawans have been identified as ASI Sisupal Singh, Siblal and Constable Dharmendra Kumar Singh.

As per reports, the security personnel were in a transit from one camp to another around 3 pm when the armed ultras opened fire at them leaving three jawans martyred and several others injured.

Higher authorities reached the spot immediately following the development and combing operation is currently on.

The ultras had earlier warned against the newly set up CRPF camp at Patadhara by posting banners and posters in the area.

After a long lull, the ultras made their presence felt by attacking the jawans.

As the place is close to the border of Chhattisgarh, it is suspected that the Red Ultras from the neighbouring state are involved in the attack.

Odisha government announced ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh for the families of three deceased CRPF personnel.

DGP expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families stating that operations would continue in the area to track down the Maoists.
