Puri collector Samarth Verma on Monday informed that the decision on how to conduct the Snana Purnima rituals of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Srimandir is yet to be taken.

Speaking to OTV, Verma said, “The district administration today hold a preparatory meeting which was attended by the servitors associated with the rituals of Snana Yatra to be held on June 24.”

During the meeting, the servitors put forth several proposals on how to conduct the ritual of the holy Trinity. However, the final decision in this regard is still pending, he said.

“After discussing with all the stakeholders, a final decision on how to conduct the ritual with all Covid-19 restrictions in place will be taken during a meeting of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA),” the Collector added.

The Snana Yatra rituals and Rath Yatra of the Holy Trinity were performed sans devotees last year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides, the Puri Srimandir remained out of bounds for devotees and the annual rituals were performed inside the temple premises at the Meghanad Pacheri with limited number of servitors.
