  • Night Curfew restrictions will be in force from 8 pm to 5 am daily in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from October 11.

Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi on Saturday warned of stern action against any kind of violations during the enforcement of night curfew restrictions in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from October 11 (Monday).

While talking to reporters on the sidelines of a presser on Saturday, Priyadarshi said that adequate measures will be taken to ensure that the night curfew restrictions are strictly followed for a period of 10 days till October 20, 2021.

“The State government had recently announced the night curfew restrictions during Durga Puja from October 11 to October 20, 2021. It will be in force from 8 pm to 5 am daily in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. We appeal residents to abide by the restrictions which aim at putting a check on Covid-19 spread,” said Priyadarshi.

Priyadarshi said that already Cuttack and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporations have issued necessary guidelines which are meant to be followed during the Durga Puja.

“The Puja organisors have assured us to ensure that all the guidelines and norms are followed,” he said. The Durga Puja festivities will be observed across the State and in the Twin cities with strict adherence to Covid protocols, he said.

“We will take stern action against people who violate the guidelines and night curfew restrictions during the period. The Commissionerate Police in the past had imposed fines on violators and, if need arises, arrests will be made following the review of the extent of violation,” said the Police Commissioner.

The Twin City Police Commissioner also assured the residents of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to initiate special measures to check incidents of crime during Durga Puja celebrations.
