Odia television actress death: Family points finger at deceased's 'live in partner', seeks probe

Mystery shrouded the death of Odia television actress Rashmirekha Ojha whose body was found hanging in her rented house in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

The actress was found hanging in her rented house located at Gadasahi in Nayapalli area of the city. 

A police team rushed to the spot after being tipped off by the landlord and broke open the room which was locked from inside. A suicide note was recovered from the spot. 

The police said the actress held none responsible for her death. The police handed over Rashmirekha's body to her family members after the post-mortem. 

As per police sources, Rashmirekha, who hailed from Tirtol area of Jagatsinghpur, lived in the rented house with her male friend Santosh Patra for one and half months. However, the man in question reportedly moved out a few days back and started living separately. 

The police are investigating the case from all angles and are expected to question the male friend of the actress. 

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased pointed fingers at Santosh Patra and termed him the murderer. 

"Their landlord said Santosh Patra and Rashmi were living as husband-wife. We had no clue about her marriage. I have also no idea who has written that purported suicide note. If both are married, then Santosh is the murderer. A probe should be launched and he should be jailed," said the bereaved father.
