Mob attack Dabugaon IIC in Nabarangpur

At least three police personnel, including the Inspector In Charge (IIC) of Umerkote police station, sustained injuries after being allegedly attacked by villagers of Dabugaon in Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.

According to sources, tension ran high in the area after a body of a woman was found hanging inside a locked room in the village on July 19.

The locals reportedly detained the husband of the deceased woman suspecting the latter’s involvement in the death.

On being informed about the incident, the police reached the spot and attempted to rescue the husband from the irate villagers. However, the villagers chased the police team and also attacked them, sources said.

"The husband of the deceased woman has been arrested. The IIC and three other officers were manhandled by the villagers. Necessary action will be taken against the locals who attacked the cops," said Umerkote Sub Divisional Police Officer, Nihar Ranjan Pradhan.
